Home Based Care

The scourge of HIV/AIDs has affected and infected households in Mukono district leading child led homes and granny led homes never the less there still a high percentage of HIV prevalence of 9% in the district which is higher than the national HIV/AIDs prevalence of 7.5% therefore we find ourselves in a dilemma and challenged to give home based care to those infected with HIV, this is basically done by our trained Village Health Teams ( VHTs), Community Resource Persons (CORPs) and Network Support Agents (NSAs), the care given include Nutrition support, Income Generating Activity (IGAs) support, counseling and referrals, domestic utilities (soap, sugar, salt and food).

This is done through family support groups, Tata and Mama Clubs formed by the HIV positive members, it is noted that through these clubs, HIV/AIDs positive members can easily be identified since they freely interact and have open discussions on having positive living as positives.
